For many families across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, long waits for specialist care are a growing concern. As part of our commitment to serve the local community, The Hamptons Hospital has partnered with Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) to help reduce these delays and give patients quicker access to appointments, diagnostics and treatment.
Supporting NHS services and the local community
This partnership is designed to ease pressure on the NHS and benefit the community directly. CUH receives referrals from across a large region as a specialist hospital serving a wide area, meaning delays affect a broad population across Cambridgeshire. By working together, we are helping more patients access timely care closer to home, with shorter waits and smoother pathways into treatment.
Where we are providing support
We are now seeing NHS patients across several areas of care, including ear, nose and throat, women’s health, heart care, oral surgery, general surgery and diagnostics. People are already coming through our doors for appointments and tests, and moving on to treatment sooner than they would otherwise.
As more referrals come in, we’re working closely with Cambridge University Hospitals to make sure everything runs smoothly for patients, with dedicated clinic space and streamlined processes to keep appointments moving without delay.
Expanding capacity across specialist services
We’re also growing the range of specialist services available to NHS patients. Working closely with Cambridge University Hospitals, we’ve designed clear, patient-friendly pathways that make it easier to get the right tests and treatment without long delays. This includes new heart-care routes, planned hernia surgery lists and expanded access to scans and other investigations. We’re also welcoming additional oral and maxillofacial consultants so more patients can receive the specialist care they need.
What this means for patients
The impact is already being felt across the community. People who might otherwise face long waits are now being seen sooner, progressing through their diagnostic journey more quickly and accessing treatment with less delay.
For patients across Cambridgeshire, and for those referred to CUH from neighbouring areas, this partnership means quicker access to the care they need at a time when NHS services are under real pressure.
Looking ahead
Over the coming months, we’ll continue to grow this partnership so more NHS patients can be seen sooner and move through their care without lengthy delays. We’ll increase capacity where CUH needs it most and keep strengthening the support we provide across clinics, diagnostics and treatment.
Our goal remains simple: to help the NHS and to ensure our community can access timely, dependable care.
